Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

This ACLS Course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR.

This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Course Content

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Classroom-based (instructor and video, with skills conducted throughout)

  • Full ACLS Provider Course is a 2-day course lasting approximately 5 hours each day to complete, including practice while watching DVD, skills practice and evaluation, and a written exam
  • An ACLS Renewal Course is a 1-day course lasting approximately 5 hours to complete, including practice while watching DVD, skills practice, skills and written exam

Blended learning is a combination of computer learning combined with a practical skills exam

  • Computer portion and the test must be completed prior to skills exam and your certificate will be collected prior to the exam.

Note: If you require CPR for HCP take part a CPR -HCP and you can complete both skills evaluations at the same time.

This is an American Heart Association Course and you will receive a card from the American Heart Association upon successful completion of the class.
